Mark comes to FCA with a varied sports and business background. He is a graduate of Frostproof High School, and the University of Georgia. Mark was a 4 sport letterman at Frostproof. He was a wide receiver for the Dogs, and a member of the 1976 team that won the SEC Championship.
Mark has served on the FCA Board of Directors and financially supported the ministry for the past 20 years. He and his wife Gail have been married for 31 years. They have 3 grown children, Elise, Kayla, and Paul. Mark has owned several different business' in the past, the most recent 20 years have been in the real estate/finance industry. He and Gail are active members of Highland Park Church of the Nazarene and also serve in the Guardian Ad Litem program.
As to why Mark decided to join the FCA staff, he simply says "I love kids, I love sports, and I love Jesus! FCA is the oldest and best sports ministry in the world, and I'm honored and humbled to be a part of helping coaches and athletes come to know Jesus through the powerful platform of sports."
SCOOTER BYARS Area Representative
Scooter brings with him over 10 years of FCA ministry experience ranging from Huddle Leader to Area Representative. He is a graduate of Lake Gibson High School, where he played baseball, football and soccer.
Scooter has served in many areas of FCA ministry all over the Southeast. He worked as huddle leader at more than 40 national FCA sports camps, FCA intern, chaplain, and representative. He and his wife Nicole have been married for 3.5 years, yet have known each other since grade four. They have a Boxer dog named “Roscoe.” The two of them share a love and passion for youth in sports that is evident by their athletic involvement in the community.He and Nicole are active members of the First Baptist Church of Midway.
He mentions, “FCA ministry has change the lives of thousands across the world, and I happened to be one of them. God used the avenue of sports to get to my heart and soul.”
CAROL PREVATT Administrative Assistant
Carol Prevatt has been on staff with FCA since April 30, 1990.She attends Trinity Presbyterian Church in Lakeland. Her hobbies are art, photography and any thing to do with water and the out doors. She especially loves jet skiing! Carol and her husband, Jim, have been married for 44 years. They are "empty nesters" and have two daughters, Heather and Jill, and 4 wonderful grandchildren that are their pride and joy.Carol serves as the Administrative Assistant for West Central Florida. She enjoys organizing functions for the ministry, along with other administrative duties but also loves to join in with the staff in the field on occassions.Carol believes that FCA is one of the most vital tools for reaching students for Christ and that we are making an eternal difference in the lives of young people in this community and she is proud to be a part of the team.
